VFW Christmas Card Lifts Veterans' Spirits

On December 20, 2007, VFW Friends of Freedom delivered a powerful message of support to veterans at James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, Florida.

Kenneth Thie, Director of the Department of Florida VFW Veterans Services, presented a giant Christmas card, signed by nearly 15,000 caring patriots through a VFW Friends of Freedom Internet campaign, to patients at the hospital.

U.S. Army Private First Class James White accepted the well wishes on behalf of the veterans recovering at the hospital. The event was featured throughout local media.

The inside of the heartfelt card read:

You’ve bravely and proudly carried the burden of defending this country. And for that, there are no words to express our gratitude. Because of you, this country remains the greatest nation on Earth!

On behalf of each proud citizen, and the VFW, please accept our deepest gratitude for your heroism and valor. We remember all you’ve done for each of us, and we are grateful. We hope this small token will bring cheer into your Christmas by letting you know that we are thinking of you and your comrades.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Merry Christmas!

Join Friends of Freedom and receive many opportunities to show your support for America’s troops and veterans.
