Key Achievements
In 2008, we achieved a hard-won victory with the passage of the 21st Century GI Bill, expanding educational benefits to all service members and members of the Guard/Reserve who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. We played a leading role in the Veterans Access and Accountability Act of 2014 and continue to fight for improved VA medical services for women veterans.
Most recently, the VFW was instrumental in the passing of the 2022 Honoring Our PACT Act, one of the most significant pieces of veterans’ legislation in history.
In addition to providing financial support for the development of the Vietnam, Korean War, World War II, and Women in Military Service monuments, the VFW made history in 2005 by being the initial veterans' group to contribute to the construction of the Disabled Veterans for Life Memorial in November 2010. Then, in 2015, we became the first sponsor for the Desert Storm and Desert Shield Memorial, which broke ground in July of 2022.
Promoting civic responsibility and patriotism and supporting youth and local programs across America are just a few of the many ways we give back. Whether at a national level or in our own backyards, we dedicate millions of hours each year volunteering in our communities.
Your Donation Ensures America’s Veterans Are Never Forgotten.
You can take pride in your gift to the VFW. A donation to the VFW helps fuel programs to meet the needs of veterans after they’ve dedicated their lives to protecting America’s citizens.
As the nation’s oldest major combat veterans’ organization, the VFW has an impeccable and longstanding record of service and stewardship. Millions of patriotic Americans, both members and non-members, entrust the VFW with financial contributions and dedicate millions of volunteer hours. Our programs help veterans with a myriad of needs after they return home from war. Through the VFW, veterans can receive help with securing their VA benefits, be part of a collective effort to advocate for veterans' rights and access educational opportunities.
The core values of the VFW are the pillars upon which we strongly stand. We pledge to treat all donors as partners in our cause. The VFW promotes patriotism at every turn. We are dedicated to honoring military service and ensuring that veterans and their families receive the care they need and the benefits they have earned.
Today, we are more dedicated to the mission than ever. Check our latest fact sheet. No One Does More For Veterans.®
